Is the IKEA FADO lamp worth it?

Yes, if you want soft ambient light on a budget. At $30.00 at ModeSens as of November 4, 2026, it is one of the cheapest glass globe lamps around. It is not a task lamp, so do not expect bright reading light.

Does the FADO come with a bulb?

IKEA sells it with an LED E27 globe bulb, but listings vary, so check what is included. Any standard E27 bulb up to 75 W fits.

Can I use a smart bulb in the FADO?

Yes. The E27 socket takes standard smart bulbs, which is the easiest way to add dimming and scheduling since the lamp has no dimmer.

How big is the FADO lamp?

It is 24 cm (about 9.5 in) tall and 25 cm (about 10 in) wide, with a 1.8 m cord. It fits on a nightstand or shelf but takes noticeable space.

Is the FADO good for a bedside table?

Yes. The opal glass gives a soft glow that suits bedrooms, and the size works on most nightstands. Pair it with a warm low-output bulb for evening use.

When is the FADO cheapest?

It is already a low-cost lamp, so discounts are small. Watch for IKEA family offers and resale listings, where used or new-with-tags units often sell below retail.
