Our take on the iPad 10.2" (9th Gen, 2021) 64GB - Silver (Wi-Fi + Cellular)

The iPad 9th Gen is Apple's entry-level tablet, with a 10.2-inch 2160 x 1620 display, the A13 Bionic chip, a 12 MP front camera with Center Stage, and up to 10 hours of battery life. This is the 64GB Wi-Fi + Cellular version in Silver, which adds LTE for use away from Wi-Fi. The best new price is $340 at eBay as of November 4, 2026, and only two stores list it new, so it sits near the top of its recent range rather than at a low.

Best forStudents and families who want a cheap, reliable tabletShoppers who need LTE away from Wi-FiNote-taking and video calls with Apple Pencil and Center StageA first iPad for kids or light streaming and browsing
Pros
  • A13 Bionic handles browsing, streaming and school apps smoothly
  • 12 MP front camera with Center Stage keeps you framed on video calls
  • Cellular option means no phone hotspot needed on the go
  • Works with Apple Pencil (1st gen) and Smart Keyboard for notes and typing
  • Long software support and a huge iPad app library
Cons
  • 64GB fills fast once you add apps, photos and offline video
  • Older design with Lightning port and a non-laminated display
  • No USB-C, so it won't share chargers with newer iPads and Macs
  • Cellular models cost more and need a separate data plan
  • Only two stores list it new, so discounts are limited

Questions and answers

Is the iPad 9th Gen still worth buying in 2026?
Yes if you want a cheap, dependable iPad for streaming, browsing, schoolwork and video calls. It is slower and older-looking than newer iPads, but it handles everyday tasks well and gets software updates.
Do I need the Cellular version?
Only if you will use it away from Wi-Fi often, such as commuting or traveling. Cellular adds a data plan cost; otherwise the Wi-Fi model is cheaper and you can tether to a phone.
Is 64GB enough?
For streaming, browsing, email and a few apps, yes. If you download movies, shoot lots of video or keep large games, choose the 256GB model or plan on cloud storage.
Does it work with Apple Pencil and keyboards?
It supports the Apple Pencil (1st generation) and Apple's Smart Keyboard for the 10.2-inch iPad, plus many Bluetooth keyboards. Newer USB-C accessories and the 2nd-gen Pencil do not fit.
How does it compare with the 10th Gen iPad?
The 10th Gen has a larger 10.9-inch screen, USB-C, a faster chip and a newer design, but costs more. The 9th Gen is the better value if price matters most and you don't need USB-C.
When is it cheapest?
It is an older model with few new listings, so discounts are limited. Watch for holiday sales and refurbished units, which can cost far less than the $340 new price.
Where is the iPad 10.2" (9th Gen, 2021) 64GB - Silver (Wi-Fi + Cellular) cheapest?
At eBay, for $340.00, as of our latest check.
Where can I buy the iPad 10.2" (9th Gen, 2021) 64GB - Silver (Wi-Fi + Cellular)?
8 stores we checked sell it, including Amazon, Walmart, eBay, Newegg.com, HOLDALL HOUSE.
