Is the Jellycat Capybara worth $34.66?

That is near the bottom of the current new-price range across the seven stores listing it, so it is a fair buy if you want the capybara specifically. Jellycat plush rarely discount deeply, so waiting for a big drop is unlikely to pay off.

How big is it really?

It measures about 21 cm tall sitting, 21 cm wide and 17 cm deep, roughly the size of two hands cupped together. It is a cuddle-sized plush, not a large pillow.

Is it safe for a newborn?

Jellycat lists it as suitable from birth. The PE beans are sewn inside, but check seams periodically and keep it out of the crib for unsupervised sleep.

Yes. Jellycat recommends a gentle machine wash at low temperature and air drying, which keeps the polyester pile and bean filling intact.

How does it compare with other Jellycat animals?

It is similar in size and feel to the medium Bashful range but sits upright on its bean base rather than lying flat. Choose it if you want a display-friendly plush.

Prices vary by store rather than season. The $34.66 eBay listing as of November 5, 2026 is the lowest new price found; compare across the seven stores before buying.

The Jellycat Capybara is a soft, sitting plush about 21 cm tall, made of polyester with PE bean filling that gives it a weighted, floppy feel. It is part of Jellycat's collectible animal line and is marketed as suitable from birth, so it works as both a baby gift and a desk or shelf companion.
