Is the John Deere X354 worth $5,099?

It is a well-built garden tractor with a cast-iron front axle and foot-controlled hydrostatic drive. At $5,099 at Sydenstricker Nobbe Partners as of November 7, 2026, you pay for durability and dealer support rather than a wide deck. Compare against a 48-inch X370 if you mow large open areas.

What size yard suits the X354?

The 42-inch deck works well on roughly one to two acres with trees, beds and gates to navigate. On wide open lawns of two acres or more, a wider deck saves time.

Does the X354 have automatic transmission?

Yes. It uses a foot-controlled hydrostatic transmission, so you press a pedal to go and release to stop, with no clutch or gear shifting.

Can the X354 tow a cart or spreader?

Yes. As a garden tractor it has a rear hitch and can pull carts, spreaders and aerators. Check the drawbar rating in the manual before heavy loads.

What comes with the X354?

It ships as a tractor with the 42-inch deck installed. Baggers, mulching kits, weights and trailers are sold separately.

When is the X354 cheapest?

John Deere dealers often discount in late fall and winter and run spring promotions. The current best new price is $5,099 at Sydenstricker Nobbe Partners as of November 7, 2026.
