Is the top real marble or another stone?

The listing calls it a stone top and lists the main material as acacia, which is the wood used for the carved frame. Ask the seller to confirm the exact stone before ordering if the top material matters to you.

How much space does it need?

It is about 67 inches wide, 15¾ inches deep and 35¾ inches tall. Leave extra room behind it for the carved frieze and stretcher, and plan for a wall long enough to carry its width.

Can two people move it?

It weighs about 247 pounds and ships in two boxes, so plan on two strong people and clear the path first. Move it by the frame, not the carved stretcher or the stone top.

How should I care for the gold leaf?

Dust with a soft, dry cloth and avoid wet polishes or abrasive cleaners on the gilded surfaces. Keep it out of direct sun and damp areas to protect the leaf and the stone.

Is it worth it over a plainer console?

It is a decorative statement piece, not a budget console. Buy it if the carved baroque look and gold-leaf finish are what you want; a plain wood or metal console will cost less and need less care.

Our take on the Jonathan Charles Baroque Gilded Console Table

A Neapolitan baroque-style console table from Jonathan Charles, modeled on a c1660 original. It pairs a stone top with a light antique gold-leaf finish over a heavily carved acacia frame, including oversized legs, a carved frieze and a stretcher topped with a floral ornament. At about 67 inches wide, 15¾ inches deep and 35¾ inches tall, and weighing roughly 247 pounds, it is a substantial piece for a hallway, dining room or entry. It ships in two boxes.
