Is the Braxton sleeper sofa worth it?

It is a strong pick if you want a stylish sofa that converts to a real memory foam bed and you can wait for custom upholstery. If you need a bed quickly or have a small room, a stock sleeper or a Murphy bed may serve you better.

How does the Braxton compare with a standard pull-out sofa?

The TEMPUR-Response foam mattress avoids the bar under your back that spring sleeper mattresses have. The trade-off is a deeper open footprint of 86 inches and a shorter 72-inch sleeping length.

What size room does it need?

The sofa is 77 inches wide and 36 inches deep closed. Open, it needs 86 inches of depth, so leave roughly 7 feet of clear floor in front of it.

Is the mattress good for everyday sleeping?

It is fine for guests and occasional use. For nightly sleeping, most people want a thicker dedicated mattress, since the sleeper mattress is thinner and only 72 inches long.

What fabrics are available?

Options include velvets, Sunbrella Premier Sea, and pet-friendly and Safeguard fabrics. Sunbrella and pet-friendly weaves handle spills and claws better than velvet.

When is the best time to buy?

Joybird discounts heavily around major holiday sales, and the Braxton's price moves a lot between list and sale. Check the price history and buy during a promotion rather than at full price.

Our take on the Joybird Braxton Sleeper Sofa Foam

The Joybird Braxton is a mid-century modern sleeper sofa with a tufted back, a 69-inch seat, and a TEMPUR-Response memory foam mattress that opens to 60 by 72 inches. It is built for living rooms that double as guest rooms, with GREENGUARD Gold certification and fabric options including Sunbrella and pet-friendly velvets. The open footprint is large at 77 by 86 inches, so measure the room before ordering. Joybird runs frequent sales, and the Braxton's price swings widely between list and promotional pricing, so the current quote is worth comparing against its recent low.
