Our take on the Kindle E-reader 6" Glare-Free Touchscreen Display 7th Generation

The Kindle 7th Generation is Amazon's 2014 entry-level e-reader, a 6-inch E Ink touchscreen device with Wi-Fi and no front light. It weighs 191 g and Amazon rates the battery at up to a month of reading. The only price on record is $46.89 at Buy Direct & Save as of October 28, 2026, so there is no recent range to compare against. Buy it for cheap reading in daylight, not for reading in the dark.

Questions and answers

Is the Kindle 7th Generation worth buying?
Yes if you read in daylight and want the cheapest way into the Kindle store. At $46.89 at Buy Direct & Save as of October 28, 2026, it costs less than most used alternatives. Skip it if you read in bed without a lamp.
Can I read in the dark on this Kindle?
No. This model has no front light, so you need a lamp or a clip-on book light. The Paperwhite line is the step up if night reading matters.
How much storage does it have?
2 GB, with no memory card slot. That is fine for text novels but fills quickly with PDFs, comics or audiobooks.
Does it have Bluetooth or a headphone jack?
No. This generation has no audio output, so it cannot play Audible audiobooks. It is a reading-only device.
What is in the box?
The Kindle and a USB charging cable. No wall adapter is included, so you need your own USB power source.
When is it cheapest?
The only recorded price is $46.89 at Buy Direct & Save on October 28, 2026. Older Kindles usually drop around Prime Day and Black Friday, so watch those periods.
