Our take on the KingSpec 1TB M.2 2280 PCIe Gen4x4 NVMe SSD

The KingSpec 1TB M.2 2280 is a PCIe Gen4x4 NVMe internal SSD rated at up to 4,900 MB/s sequential read. It is a bare drive with no heatsink, so it fits laptops and desktops with an open M.2 slot. At $155.99 at Newegg.com as of November 3, 2026, it is priced well above what 1TB Gen4 drives from major brands usually cost, so the value case is weak.

Questions and answers

Is this drive worth $155.99?
For 1TB of Gen4 storage, that price is high. Comparable 1TB Gen4 drives from established brands often sell for less, so buy this only if it drops or you specifically need this model.
Will it fit my laptop or desktop?
It is a standard M.2 2280 drive, so it fits any slot that accepts 2280-length NVMe drives. Check that your slot supports PCIe Gen4 to get the full 4,900 MB/s; on Gen3 it will run slower.
Does it come with a heatsink?
No. It is a bare drive. A desktop board or aftermarket heatsink is fine for sustained loads; many laptops have no room for one.
How fast is it in real use?
The rated 4,900 MB/s is sequential read. Real-world game loading and file copies depend on write speed and cache, which KingSpec does not list here.
When is it cheapest?
Only one store, Newegg.com, listed a new price of $155.99 as of November 3, 2026. Watch for sales, since single-store pricing moves with promos.
Where is the KingSpec 1TB M.2 2280 PCIe Gen4x4 NVMe SSD cheapest?
At Newegg.com, for $155.99, as of our latest check.
What do buyers say about the KingSpec 1TB M.2 2280 PCIe Gen4x4 NVMe SSD?
Rated 3.7 out of 5 from 6 ratings.
