Does the Kobalt XTR circular saw come with a battery?

No. It is a bare tool, so you need a Kobalt 24V battery and charger, sold separately. Budget for those before comparing it with kits.

How deep will it cut?

It cuts 2-1/2 inches at 90 degrees and 1-3/4 inches at 45 degrees with the included 7-1/4-inch, 24-tooth blade. That handles 2x lumber and most sheet goods.

Is it worth it over a corded saw?

If you already own Kobalt 24V batteries, the bare-tool price and cordless freedom make it a reasonable pick. If you have no batteries, a corded saw or a kit usually costs less up front.

What bevel angles does it cut?

It bevels from 0 to 56 degrees, which is wider than the 45 degrees on many circular saws. Depth drops to 1-3/4 inches at 45 degrees.

What blade does it use?

A 7-1/4-inch blade with a 5/8-inch arbor. A 24-tooth blade is included, and any standard 7-1/4-inch blade fits.

When is the best time to buy it?

Bare tools usually dip during spring and holiday tool sales. Check the price history on this page to see whether the current price is near its low.
