Is the Kodak PIXPRO WPZ2 worth it?

Yes if you want a cheap camera you can take into water, sand or mud without worry. If photo quality in low light matters most, a phone or a larger-sensor camera will do better.

How does it compare with a GoPro?

The WPZ2 is cheaper and shoots stills with a 4x optical zoom, which action cameras lack. A GoPro is more rugged for video and has stronger stabilization and wider lenses.

Is it really waterproof?

Yes, it is rated waterproof and dustproof for snorkeling and pool use. It is not a deep-dive camera, so check the depth rating before diving.

What comes in the box?

Expect the camera, a battery, a charger or cable, a wrist strap and paperwork. A memory card is usually sold separately, so buy one.

Can I control it from my phone?

Yes. The free iOS/Android app connects over Wi-Fi and controls the camera from up to 30 feet away and transfers photos.

When is the best time to buy it?

The best new price was $166.26 at Walmart as of November 4, 2026. Watch for holiday and summer sales, when rugged compacts often drop.
