Our take on the Koville Hayes 7 in. x 48 in. 12mil 5mm Waterproof Rigid Core Luxury Vinyl Plank Flooring, Olympics

The Koville Hayes is a click-lock rigid core luxury vinyl plank, 7 in. wide by 48 in. long, with a 12 mil wear layer and a 5 mm waterproof core. The 12 mil layer is mid-grade: fine for bedrooms, living rooms and rentals, but thin for heavy commercial traffic. It is sold as a single plank, so you buy the count you need. The best new price is $69.76 at Wayfair as of November 4, 2026, and only one store lists it new, so there is no recent range to compare against.

Best forDIY installers who want a click-lock floor with no glueKitchens, baths and basements where water resistance mattersRentals and quick room refreshesBuyers who want a glossy, natural wood look
Pros
  • Waterproof 5 mm rigid core resists swelling from spills
  • Click-lock edges install without adhesive
  • 12 mil wear layer suits normal residential use
  • Long 48 in. planks mean fewer seams
  • Glossy natural finish brightens darker rooms
Cons
  • Sold per plank, so you must calculate coverage and waste
  • Only one store lists it new, which limits price comparison
  • 12 mil layer is thin for pets with heavy claws or commercial floors
  • Glossy finish shows dust and footprints more than matte
  • 5 mm core is thinner than many rigid cores, so subfloor prep matters

Questions and answers

Is the Koville Hayes plank waterproof?
Yes. The rigid core and 12 mil wear layer are rated waterproof, so standing water on the surface will not swell the plank. Water that gets under the floor through unsealed edges can still cause problems.
How many planks do I need for my room?
Each plank covers 7 in. by 48 in., about 2.33 sq ft. Divide your room's square footage by 2.33 and add 10 percent for cuts and waste, then round up.
Can I install it over concrete or existing tile?
Yes, as a floating click floor over a flat, clean subfloor, including concrete and well-bonded tile. Low spots and high spots should be leveled first, since a 5 mm core flexes more than thicker planks.
Is a 12 mil wear layer enough?
For normal residential rooms, yes. For large dogs, heavy furniture drag or commercial space, a 20 mil layer holds up better.
When is the best time to buy?
Flooring tends to drop during seasonal home sales and holiday promotions. With only one store listing it new as of November 4, 2026, watch that listing for markdowns rather than expecting a store-to-store price war.
Where is the Koville Hayes 7 in. x 48 in. 12mil 5mm Waterproof Rigid Core Luxury Vinyl Plank Flooring, Olympics cheapest?
At Wayfair, for $69.76, as of our latest check.
