Is this the original LAVA brand lamp?

Yes. LAVA has made this style for decades, and this is the 14.5-inch classic with a silver base and cap.

What bulb does it use?

A 25-watt incandescent bulb is included. The listing also notes a 100-watt rating, so check the bulb that ships with your unit and match it when replacing.

How long does it take to warm up?

Expect roughly 45 minutes to an hour before the wax starts flowing well. Cool rooms slow it down.

Is it safe for a child's room?

No. The glass globe and hot bulb make it unsuitable for children under 14, and it is sold as a decorative item, not a toy.

Is $32.99 a good price?

That is at the low end for this size, and three stores list it new as of November 5, 2026. It is a fair buy if you want the classic look.

No. It is not dimmable; use the rotary or push-button switch to turn it on and off.

Our take on the Lava Lamp Black/Purple 14.5"

The Lava Lamp Black/Purple 14.5" is the classic LAVA-brand motion lamp: black wax in purple liquid inside a glass globe, on a silver aluminum base and cap. At $32.99 at Noggin Factory Toy Shop as of November 5, 2026, it sits at the low end of what this size typically sells for, and three stores carry it new.
