Is $39.99 a good price for this lava lamp?

It is a fair price for a 14.5-inch chrome lava lamp. Three stores list it new, and $39.99 at Amazon as of November 5, 2026 is at the low end of the usual range for this size.

How long does it take to start flowing?

Expect roughly 1 to 2 hours from a cold start. Once warm, the wax keeps moving as long as the lamp stays on.

What bulb does it use?

A 25W appliance bulb, which is included. Replace it with the same wattage and type, since a higher-wattage bulb can overheat the lamp.

The lamp is 14.5 inches tall with a 4.25-inch base and weighs 3.1 lbs. It fits on a shelf, desk or nightstand.

Can it be left on all night?

It is not recommended. The lamp runs hot, so switch it off when you leave the room or go to sleep.
