Is the LEGO Mercedes-Benz G 500 Professional Line worth it?

For experienced Technic builders who want a long project and a large display model, yes. If you want something to play with or build quickly, a smaller Technic set is a better fit.

How many pieces does it have?

2,891 pieces. That puts it among the larger Technic vehicle sets and makes for a multi-session build.

LEGO recommends 18 and up. The piece count and complexity suit adults and experienced teen builders, not young children.

Does it have working functions?

Yes. The model includes mechanical functions such as suspension and a detailed drivetrain, along with opening body panels.

How big is the finished model?

It is a large 1:1-scale-style Technic vehicle that needs a wide shelf or display surface. Plan the space before you start building.

Large Technic sets usually drop during major LEGO sales events and holiday promotions. Check the price history before buying.

Our take on the LEGO Mercedes-Benz G 500 PROFESSIONAL Line

The LEGO Technic Mercedes-Benz G 500 Professional Line (set 42177) is a 2,891-piece adult build of the boxy G-Class off-roader, made to mark the vehicle's 45th anniversary. It is a display-and-function model rather than a toy: working suspension, a detailed drivetrain and opening body panels reward careful assembly. At 18+ it is aimed at experienced builders, and it takes real time and shelf space to finish.
