Is the LF Bros 5KW worth it?

At $62.05 on eBay as of November 5, 2026, it is a cheap way into diesel heat if you can install it yourself. Budget extra for a fuel tank, ducting and a 12V supply, and accept that support and parts will be limited.

How much space will 5 kW heat?

Roughly 150 to 200 square feet in a well-insulated van or garage, less in a drafty space. Output drops in extreme cold, and the unit cycles on and off once the space is warm.

What do I need to install it?

A 12V power source, a diesel tank and line, exhaust and intake piping routed outside, and ducting for the hot air. The listing says assembly is required, so plan on a few hours of work.

Can I use it indoors?

Only with the combustion exhaust vented outdoors. The heated air is separate from the exhaust, but the unit still burns diesel and must never run in a sealed room without proper venting.

How does it compare with a Webasto or Eberspächer?

Those brands cost several times more but come with dealer support, tested controllers and quieter pumps. The LF Bros matches the basic 5 kW forced-air design at a fraction of the price.

Diesel heater kits usually dip outside the heating season, in spring and summer. The current $62.05 on eBay as of November 5, 2026 is already near the bottom of the range for this class.

Our take on the LF Bros 5KW Diesel Heater

The LF Bros 5KW is a Chinese-made 12V diesel air heater in the style of the popular parking heaters: a fuel pump, a combustion chamber and a blower that pushes hot air through ducts. It is a forced-air unit rated around 5 kW, meant for garages, vans, trailers, basements and campers, and it comes with a remote and a 2-cell lithium battery pack. At $62.05 on eBay as of November 5, 2026, it sits at the low end of what these kits sell for; only two stores list it new, so the price is not a broad market reading. Expect to add ducting, a fuel tank and a 12V supply to get it running.
