Our take on the Link UPGRADED Handheld Retro Gaming Console with 500 Games and 5000 mAh Portable Charger

The Link Handheld Retro Gaming Console is a pocket-size player with 500 built-in games and a 5,000 mAh battery that doubles as a phone charger. It is 4.96 inches tall and under an inch thick, with 2GB of storage and Bluetooth 2.0. At $34.99 at Target as of November 5, 2026, it is the only new price listed, so there is no recent range to compare against. Buy it as a cheap novelty or stocking filler, not as a serious retro handheld.

Questions and answers

Is the Link retro handheld worth $34.99?
If you want a cheap gift or a backup phone charger that plays games, yes. If you expect real Nintendo or Sega titles, no. The 500 games are mostly generic clones.
Are the 500 games actual classic titles?
No. Listings for consoles like this typically pack in public-domain or clone games rather than licensed classics. Expect simple arcade and puzzle knockoffs.
How long does the battery last?
The 5,000 mAh cell is large for a handheld this size, so expect many hours of play per charge. It can also recharge a phone, though that drains it faster.
Can I add my own games?
The listing gives 2GB of built-in storage and does not mention a microSD slot. Assume you are limited to the 500 preloaded games unless the box says otherwise.
What comes in the box?
The console and its included lithium battery. Check the listing for a charging cable, since one is not confirmed.
When is it cheapest?
At $34.99 at Target as of November 5, 2026, it is the only new price listed. Watch for holiday sales, when novelty handhelds like this usually drop a few dollars.
Where is the Link UPGRADED Handheld Retro Gaming Console with 500 Games and 5000 mAh Portable Charger cheapest?
At Target, for $34.99, as of our latest check.
