Our take on the LS2 Thunder Carbon Alliance Helmet

The LS2 Thunder Carbon Alliance is a full-face sport-touring helmet with a carbon fiber shell, sold here in size X-Large. It carries both DOT and ECE 22.06 certification, so it meets US and European standards. The carbon shell keeps weight down compared with fiberglass or polycarbonate helmets in the same class. The best new price is $385 at eBay as of November 4, 2026, and four stores list it new.

  • Carbon fiber shell keeps weight low for long rides
  • DOT and ECE certified, so it works in the US and abroad
  • Full-face coverage with a wide eye port for sport riding
  • Priced well under most premium carbon race helmets
Cons
  • Only size X-Large listed, so fit options are limited
  • Carbon shells cost more to replace after a crash
  • No flip-down sun visor on this model
  • Pinlock insert and spare visors may be extra

Questions and answers

Is the LS2 Thunder Carbon Alliance worth it at $385?
At $385 at eBay as of November 4, 2026, it is a fair price for a DOT and ECE certified carbon full-face helmet. Comparable carbon helmets from major brands often cost $500 or more.
Does it meet US and European safety standards?
Yes. It is both DOT certified for the US and ECE certified for Europe, so it is legal on both sides of the Atlantic.
How does it compare with the standard Thunder?
The Alliance version uses a carbon fiber shell, which cuts weight versus the composite shell of the base Thunder. The fit and features are otherwise similar.
What size should I order?
This listing is size X-Large. LS2 shells tend to run snug, so measure your head and check the LS2 size chart before ordering, especially if you sit between sizes.
Does it come with a Pinlock insert?
Check the box contents with the seller before buying. Many LS2 helmets ship Pinlock-ready but with the insert sold separately.
When is it cheapest?
Carbon helmets see the deepest discounts during end-of-season sales and when a colorway is discontinued. Track the price history here to see how $385 compares with past lows.
