The best new price is $799.99 at Guitar Center as of November 7, 2026, and six stores carry it new, so it sits at the low end of what a complete kit with cymbals and hardware usually costs.

Rated 4.6 out of 5 from 19 ratings, the BackBeat Elite is received as a solid, good-value first full kit. Owners like the complete package and easy tuning; the common complaint is that the bundled cymbals and hardware are the weak links.
The BackBeat Elite 5-piece complete drum set provides an ideal foundation for drummers ready to take their playing to the next level. Featuring all-poplar shells, 45-degree bearing edges and a full complement of drums and hardware, this set delivers warm, resonant tone that translates from the practice room to the stage. The 10" and 12" rack toms offer punchy attack, while the 16" floor tom provides low-end depth. Anchoring the set is a 22" bass drum with impactful low end and a steel shell snare drum cuts through with crisp articulation. All-Poplar Shells Resonate With Warmth The all-poplar shells give the BackBeat Elite set a warm, resonant tone across the full tonal spectrum. Poplar is a dense, hardwood that provides an ideal combination of depth, sustain and clarity. The shells are precision-crafted to Ludwig's exacting standards, ensuring superb tone, tuning and durability. 45º Bearing Edges Enable Smooth Tuning The 45º bearing edges on each drum allow for smooth, precise tuning and enhanced shell resonance. The sharp edge helps the drum heads seat firmly against the shells, enabling accurate tuning and a clear, resonant tone. The bearing edges are cut to exacting angles for the best possible tuning and tonal results. Complete 5-Piece Shell Pack With Essential Sizes The BackBeat Elite set includes a full spread of essential drum sizes to cover a wide range of musical styles. The 22x18" bass drum provides a solid low-end foundation. The 10x8" and 12x9" rack toms deliver punchy attack. A 16x16" floor tom supplies low-end depth and power. Rounding out the set is a 14x6.5" steel shell snare drum for crisp articulation. With this combination, you'll be ready to play everything from rock and funk to jazz and blues. Road-Ready Hardware and Double-Braced Stands The BackBeat Elite set includes a full spread of hardware to support the drums, including double-braced cymbal stands, hi-hat stand, snare stand and bass drum pedal. The stands are stable and durable for live performance use. Multi-adjustable suspension mounts allow you to position the rack toms for the best possible tone, resonance and ergonomics. Overall, this high-quality hardware will have you ready to take the stage right away.
