How fast does the DC18RD charge Makita 18V batteries?

Makita rates it at about 30 minutes for a 3.0Ah pack and about 45 minutes for a 5.0Ah pack. Smaller packs charge faster.

Does it charge two batteries at once?

Yes. It has two charging ports and charges both batteries at the same time, not one after the other.

Which batteries does it work with?

It charges Makita 18V LXT lithium-ion batteries, including 3.0Ah, 4.0Ah, 5.0Ah and 6.0Ah packs. It does not charge 12V CXT or 40V XGT batteries.

Is it worth it over the single-port DC18RC?

If you own several LXT batteries or two people share a kit, the dual ports and USB save time. For one or two batteries, the single-port charger costs much less.

When is the best time to buy it?

It is often cheapest in kits or bundled with batteries rather than bought alone. At $199.00 at The Home Depot as of November 7, 2026, it is at the top of its recent range, so a bundle is usually the better value.
