Our take on the Manual Paper Trimmer Model 852 Guillotine Cutter

A heavy-duty manual guillotine trimmer with a 12.6-inch cutting length and a metal base and blade. It claims a 200-sheet cutting capacity, which is far beyond what most guillotine trimmers of this size handle. The only recorded price is $29.95 as of November 1, 2026, so there is no price history to compare against yet.

Pros
  • 12.6-inch cut handles letter and legal widths
  • Metal blade and metal base for durability
  • Paper hold-down and blade lock for safer cutting
  • Spring-loaded blade returns after each cut
  • Paper guide helps keep cuts square
Cons
  • 200-sheet capacity is optimistic for a manual trimmer; expect far fewer sheets per cut
  • Guillotine blades need care and eventual sharpening or replacement
  • No stated warranty or replacement-blade availability
  • Bulkier and heavier than a small craft trimmer

Questions and answers

Is the 200-sheet capacity realistic?
Treat it as a maximum under ideal conditions. Most users will get clean cuts on far fewer sheets at once, and forcing a thick stack risks a ragged edge and a strained blade.
Is it worth $29.95?
At $29.95 as of November 1, 2026, it is priced like a basic metal trimmer. That is fair if you cut booklets and stacks regularly; light crafters may do fine with a cheaper plastic trimmer.
What can I cut with it?
Paper only, per the listed specs. Do not use it on cardstock-heavy stacks, photos, or anything harder than paper without checking the blade first.
Does it come with a replacement blade?
No replacement blade is listed in the specs. Confirm with the seller before buying, since guillotine blades dull and a trimmer without spares has a limited life.
How big is it?
The base is about 12.6 by 9.8 inches and the unit is about 9.8 inches tall. It needs a dedicated spot on a desk or counter rather than a drawer.
When is the price lowest?
Only one price is on record, $29.95 on November 1, 2026. There is no pattern yet, so watch the price history before assuming a sale is coming.
