Our take on the OffiTrim Plus 1512 Manual Paper Trimmer

The OffiTrim Plus 1512 is a manual guillotine trimmer with a 12-inch cutting length, a hardened steel blade and a heavy-duty metal base. A manual clamp holds the stack while you cut, and a blade guard covers the edge when the arm is down. It handles paper, cardstock and laminates, so it suits light office, school and craft work. It is a basic, widely available trimmer class rather than a precision machine, and its price sits in the budget-to-mid range for 12-inch guillotine cutters.

Questions and answers

Is the OffiTrim Plus 1512 worth it?
For occasional paper, cardstock and laminate cutting at home or in a classroom, yes. It is a simple manual trimmer, so expect to spend more effort per cut than with a rotary or electric cutter.
How thick a stack can it cut?
The manual clamp and guillotine arm are built for a few sheets of paper or light cardstock at a time. Very thick stacks or rigid laminates will need several passes.
Does it cut 12-inch paper in one pass?
Yes. The 12-inch cutting length covers standard letter and A4 sheets, so a full-width cut goes through in one stroke.
Is it safe for classroom use?
It has a blade guard, but the blade is exposed when the arm is raised. Supervise younger students and keep fingers behind the clamp.
What can it cut besides paper?
The listed applications are paper, cardstock and laminates. Thin photo paper and light cardstock work well; thick rigid plastics are not recommended.
When is it cheapest?
Manual trimmers like this usually drop during back-to-school and office-supply sales. Check the price history on this page before buying.
