Pros
  • Generous 72-inch length gives a roomy soak
  • Heated back, shoulder and neck surface with three heat settings
  • Textured slip-resistant floor adds grip
  • Reversible end drain simplifies rough-in placement
  • Hourglass shape sets it apart from plain rectangular tubs
Cons
  • Drop-in only, so it needs a deck or surround to finish the install

  • Heated surface and jets add cost and wiring over a plain soaking tub

Questions and answers

Is the Mariposa a soaking tub or a whirlpool?
It is sold as a soaking tub with a heated backrest. A six-jet whirlpool version with a single-speed pump and built-in heater is also offered.
What size opening does a 72-inch drop-in tub need?
Plan a rough opening slightly smaller than the 72 by 36 inch rim so the tub lip rests on the deck. Check the manufacturer's cutout sheet before framing.
Does the heated surface need special wiring?
Yes. The heated backrest runs on household current and needs a dedicated circuit, so budget for an electrician in the install.
Can the drain go on either end?
Yes. The drain outlet is reversible, so it can be set left or right to match your plumbing.
When is the Mariposa cheapest?
