Mecale 5-Tier Tall Wooden Open Bookcase with Back Panels

Our take on the Mecale 5-Tier Tall Wooden Open Bookcase with Back Panels

The Mecale is a five-tier open bookcase in brown wood with closed back panels and adjustable shelves. The closed back gives it a sturdier, more finished look than open-back shelving and keeps items from sliding through. At $54.99 at eBay as of November 5, 2026, it sits at the low end of its recent price range, with only two stores listing it new.

Questions and answers

Is the Mecale 5-tier bookcase worth it?

At $54.99 at eBay as of November 5, 2026, it is a cheap way to add five shelves of storage. Expect basic particleboard-style construction at this price, not heirloom furniture.

Are the shelves adjustable?

Yes. The shelves are adjustable, so you can raise or lower them to fit tall books, binders or storage bins.

How tall is it, and will it tip over?

It is a tall five-tier unit, so it should be secured to the wall, especially in homes with kids or pets. Anchor hardware is not confirmed in the listing.

What is the difference between this and an open-back bookcase?

The closed back panels stiffen the frame and stop books and small items from slipping off the rear. They also block the view of the wall behind, which looks cleaner in a room.

When is the best time to buy it?

With only two stores listing it new, the price is unlikely to move much. $54.99 at eBay as of November 5, 2026 is already near the bottom of its range, so waiting rarely pays off.

Where is the Mecale 5-Tier Tall Wooden Open Bookcase with Back Panels cheapest?
