Is this a candle or an electric warmer?

It is an electric wax warmer. A bulb heats wax melts in the dish on top, so there is no wick and no flame.

What wax does it take?

Standard scented wax melt cubes. Break off a cube or two, drop them in the top dish, and turn it on.

How tall is it and where should it go?

It is 14.17 inches tall with a 6.3-inch base. It fits on a side table, console, or dresser, ideally out of high-traffic spots where it could be knocked.

Does it come with a bulb?

Most wax warmers of this style ship with a bulb included, but check the listing contents before buying. Replacement bulbs are cheap and widely sold.

Is it safe around pets and kids?

Safer than an open flame, but the glass and melted wax get hot. Keep it out of reach and unplug it when unattended.

When is the best time to buy it?

Home decor and seasonal sales, especially around fall and winter, tend to bring the lowest prices on wax warmers.

Our take on the Mercer41 14.17" Glass Wax Warmer

The Mercer41 14.17" Glass Wax Warmer is a decorative electric warmer that melts scented wax with a bulb instead of a flame. It stands 14.17 inches tall on a 6.3-inch base, with a golden metal frame and glass body. The tall glass silhouette and gold finish make it a decor piece as much as a fragrance tool. It is a flameless alternative to candles for scenting a room.
