Our take on the Mercer41 Rhylin 82.7'' Chenille Upholstered Sectional Sofa Couch with Reversible Chaise

The Mercer41 Rhylin is an 82.7-inch L-shaped chenille sectional with a reversible chaise, so the chaise can sit on either the left or right end. It is a compact sectional: 82.7 inches wide, 51.2 inches deep and 34.3 inches high, with a 17.3-inch seat height and 27.5-inch seat depth. Cushions use coil, foam and cotton fill, and the frame is rated to 900 lb. At $899.99 at Wayfair as of November 3, it sits at the top of its recent range of about $690 to $900, so it is not a bargain right now.

Pros
  • Reversible chaise fits left- or right-facing rooms
  • Chenille upholstery feels soft and hides everyday wear well
  • 900 lb weight capacity is high for a compact sofa
  • Coil-and-foam cushions hold shape better than plain foam
  • Low 17.3-inch seat height suits shorter users
Cons
  • 82.7 inches wide seats about three people, not four
  • 27.5-inch seat depth is shallow for tall users
  • Back height of 17.3 inches gives little head support
  • One-piece delivery is heavy and awkward to move upstairs
  • No storage chaise or sleeper function

Questions and answers

Is the Rhylin sectional worth it at $899.99?
It is a reasonable compact chenille sectional, but $899.99 at Wayfair as of November 3 is near its recent high of about $900. It has sold closer to $690, so waiting for a markdown makes more sense than buying at the top.
Can the chaise go on either side?
Yes. The chaise is reversible, so you can place it on the left or right to match your room layout.
How many people does it seat?
About three. The 82.7-inch width and 68.9-inch seat width fit three adults, or two plus the chaise.
Is it good for a tall person?
Not ideal. The seat depth is 27.5 inches and the back is 17.3 inches high, so taller users get less leg and shoulder support than on a full-depth sofa.
What is the weight capacity?
900 lb total across the sofa, which is high for a small sectional.
Does it come assembled?
It ships as one piece with the legs to attach. Plan for two people to move it through doorways and upstairs.
What do buyers say about the Mercer41 Rhylin 82.7'' Chenille Upholstered Sectional Sofa Couch with Reversible Chaise?
