Our take on the Mercury Row Nia Velvet Square Arm Sleeper

The Mercury Row Nia is a velvet sofa bed with square track arms, a tufted pillow back and a split-back design that lets each side recline separately. It runs 81.5 inches wide and 34 inches deep, so it seats three and folds flat for overnight guests. The current best price of $232.99 (as of November 1, 2026) sits at the bottom of its recent $232.99–$319.99 range, roughly $87 below the high.

Pros
  • Split back lets each seat recline independently
  • Velvet upholstery and tufting at an entry-level price
  • Folds flat into a sleeper without a separate mattress
  • 81.5-inch width seats three comfortably
  • Multiple fabric and color options beyond mustard yellow
Cons
  • Sleeper mattress is thin; not for nightly sleeping
  • Velvet shows lint, pet hair and body oils
  • Mustard yellow is a bold color that limits room palettes
  • Wood frame and soft cushioning mean a shorter lifespan than a true convertible sofa

Questions and answers

Is the Nia sleeper good for guests, or only occasional use?
It works for occasional overnight guests. The fold-out pad is thin, so anyone sleeping on it several nights in a row will want a mattress topper.
How does it compare with a standard futon?
It looks more like a sofa than a futon, with track arms and a tufted back, and the split back reclines each side separately. The sleeping surface is comparable to a mid-range futon.
What size room does it fit?
At 81.5 inches wide and 34 inches deep, it needs a wall about 7 feet long. Leave extra floor space in front for the sleeper to fold out.
Does the velvet hold up with pets?
Velvet is soft but picks up pet hair and shows claw snags. A lint roller helps, and the darker color options hide marks better than mustard yellow.
Is $232.99 a good price for it?
Yes. That is the lowest price in its recent range of $232.99 to $319.99, so it is about as cheap as it has been.
What comes in the box?
The sofa, its wooden frame parts, legs and hardware ship flat-packed. Assembly is required and takes about an hour with two people.
