Our take on the Meta Quest 3 512GB Virtual Reality Headset

The Meta Quest 3 is a standalone VR and mixed reality headset with no PC or console needed. It runs the Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 chip with 8GB of memory, drives a 2064 x 2208 per-eye display at 90Hz or 120Hz, and adds full-color passthrough for mixed reality apps. The 512GB model is the larger-storage version, useful if you keep a big game and app library installed. Shoppers comparing prices across stores should check the current best price against its recent range before buying.

Questions and answers

Is the Quest 3 worth it over the Quest 2?
Yes for most buyers. The Quest 3 has a sharper display, a much faster chip and full-color mixed reality passthrough, which the Quest 2 lacks.
How long does the battery last?
Expect roughly 2 to 3 hours of play on a charge, depending on the app. A battery pack or a long USB-C cable extends sessions.
Do I need a PC to use it?
No. It is a standalone headset, so games and apps run on the device. You can optionally link it to a PC for PC VR titles.
What is in the box?
The headset, two Touch Plus controllers, a charging cable and a power adapter. A case and charging dock are sold separately.
Is 512GB enough, or should I get the smaller model?
512GB suits people who keep many games and media installed. If you play a few titles at a time, the smaller model saves money.
Does it work with glasses?
Yes. The headset has adjustable lens spacing and comes with a glasses spacer, so most frames fit inside.
What do buyers say about the Meta Quest 3 512GB Virtual Reality Headset?
Rated 4.6 out of 5 from 11,000 ratings.
