Is the Metabo HPT NV45AB2 worth it for a first roofing job?

Yes, if you plan to keep it. It is light, smooth and easy to adjust, which helps beginners. The $247.00 eBay price as of November 4, 2026 is at the top of its group, so compare against cheaper coil nailers if this is a one-time job.

What nail sizes does it take?

It drives 11-gauge coil roofing nails from 7/8 to 1 3/4 inches. That covers standard asphalt shingle and insulation board work.

Does it need a compressor?

Yes. It is a pneumatic tool, so you need an air compressor and hose. Match the compressor to the nailer's air requirements and use a regulator at the tool.

How does it compare with the NV45AB?

The NV45AB2 is the current version of Metabo HPT's coil roofing nailer, with the same 11-gauge range and 120-nail magazine. It adds refinements like tool-less depth adjustment; check the specific model if you are upgrading from an older NV45AB.

The nailer ships with the tool and standard accessories such as a safety glasses and manual; confirm the exact contents with the seller, since bundles vary.
