Is the Bostitch RN46 worth it at $199.99?

At $199.99 at eBay as of November 4, 2026, it is near the bottom of its recent price range and cheap for a coil roofing nailer with a zero-nail lockout. If you already own a compressor, it is a solid buy.

What nails does the RN46 take?

It uses 11-gauge (.120") broad-head roofing nails in coil form, from 3/4" to 1-3/4" long. The magazine holds 120.

Can I use it for vinyl siding?

Yes, but you need the Bostitch VSA4 siding adaptor, sold separately. Out of the box it is set up for roofing and similar fastening.

What comes in the box?

The box contains the RN46-1 coil roofing nailer only. Nails, air fittings and the siding adaptor are not included.

What compressor does it need?

It runs at 70-120 psi with a 1/4" NPT air inlet. A compressor that sustains the nailer's air demand at that pressure keeps it firing consistently.

When is the RN46 cheapest?

Roofing nailer prices tend to dip in late fall and winter, outside peak roofing season. The current $199.99 at eBay is already low against its recent range.

What reviewers say

Roofers who run the RN46 tend to praise its reliability and jam-resistant coil feed, and many keep one for years. The main complaints are weight on long overhead days and the air hose limiting movement on a roof.
