Is the WEN 61783 worth it for a DIY roof?

Yes, if you are nailing standard 1-1/4-inch roofing nails on a small roof or repair. At $89.00 at eBay as of November 4, 2026, it costs far less than pro-grade coil nailers and handles occasional jobs fine.

What nail sizes does it take?

It uses 11-gauge coil nails from 3/4 to 1-3/4 inches. Owners report the smoothest feeding with shorter lengths, so test 1-3/4-inch nails before committing to a large run.

What compressor do I need?

It runs on 70 to 120 PSI with a standard 1/4-inch air inlet. A small pancake compressor can keep up with intermittent nailing, but continuous roofing work calls for a compressor with more sustained output.

Can it fire in bump mode?

No. The 61783 is full sequential only, so you must press the nose against the work and then pull the trigger for each nail. That is slower than bump firing but safer for beginners.

What comes in the box?

The nailer ships with the tool and standard air fittings; nails and oil are usually not included. Check the listing before ordering if you need a starter coil.

The current $89.00 at eBay as of November 4, 2026 is already near the bottom of its recent range. WEN tools tend to dip further around holiday sales, so watch for a drop if you can wait.

Our take on the WEN 61783

The WEN 61783 is a pneumatic coil roofing nailer for shingles, siding, fiber cement and tar paper. It drives 11-gauge nails from 3/4 to 1-3/4 inches, holds up to 120 nails per coil, and runs on 70 to 120 PSI air. The aluminum body weighs about 6 pounds, and full sequential firing plus a quick-release jam latch keeps roof work moving. At $89.00 at eBay as of November 4, 2026, it sits at the low end of its recent range and is one of the cheapest ways into a coil roofing gun.
