Is 5000K white or yellow?

5000K is a cool white with a faint warm tint. It is not the deep golden yellow some listings describe, so expect a near-OEM white output.

Will these fit my car?

Only if your car uses D2S bulbs with factory HID ballasts. Check the bulb type on your existing bulb or owner's manual before buying.

Do I need new ballasts?

No, as long as your factory ballasts still work. These are bulbs only and include no ballast.

How often should I replace HID bulbs?

Replace both when one dims or shifts color, usually after several years of use. The 3 to 5 year figure is an estimate.

It is the only new price listed, $41.00 at The Lighting Guru as of November 5, 2026, so there is no recent range to compare against. Compare against other D2S pairs before buying.

Our take on the Morimoto D2S XB HID Bulb 5000K

The Morimoto D2S XB is a pair of 35W HID replacement bulbs for factory D2S headlight projectors, built on Philips quartz glass and rated 5000K. The 5000K rating is a cool white with a slight warm tint, not the golden yellow some listings suggest. At $41.00 at The Lighting Guru as of November 5, 2026, it is a low-cost way to refresh dim or color-shifted factory HID bulbs.

Best forOwners of factory D2S HID projectors with dim or color-shifted bulbsDrivers who want a neutral white output close to OEMBudget-minded replacements for one failed bulb, since they sell as a pair

Pros

Sold as a pair, so both sides can be replaced at once
Philips quartz glass construction
35W D2S spec matches most factory HID ballasts
5000K gives a clean white light without heavy blue tint
Alcohol wipes included for handling the glass

Cons

No ballast included; factory ballast must be working
D2S only, so it will not fit D1S, D3S or halogen housings
Color is listed inconsistently as golden yellow and 5000K
Lifespan of 3 to 5 years is an estimate, not a guarantee
