Our take on the Mother The Insider Crop Step Fray

Mother's The Insider Crop Step Fray is a cropped bootcut jean with a 10-inch rise that sits at mid-rise and a 26-inch inseam that ends above the ankle. The stepped, frayed hem is the signature detail, and the cut is offered in regular and petite lengths across sizes 23 to 34. The best new price is $59.50 at fred boutique as of November 5, 2026, with two stores listing it new. That is well below what Mother denim usually sells for, so it is a strong price for a full-price brand style.

  • Step fray hem adds a lived-in look

Questions and answers

Is $59.50 a good price for these jeans?
Yes. Mother denim typically sells for well over $100 new, so $59.50 at fred boutique as of November 5, 2026 is a deep discount. Only two stores list it new, so sizes may be limited.
How short is the 26-inch inseam?
It hits above the ankle on most wearers, which is the point of a crop. If you are tall or want a full-length bootcut, this is not the pair.
Should I size up or down?
Mother's stretch denim tends to relax with wear, so many shoppers take their usual size or size down if between sizes. Check the store's return policy before ordering.
Will the frayed hem get worse after washing?
It can. Wash inside out on cold and skip the dryer to limit further fraying, and trim loose threads rather than pulling them.
Is a petite length available?
Yes, the style comes in regular and petite lengths. Petite pairs shorten the rise and inseam further, so check which length a store is selling.
Where is the Mother The Insider Crop Step Fray cheapest?
At fred boutique, for $59.50, as of our latest check.
Where can I buy the Mother The Insider Crop Step Fray?
2 stores we checked sell it, including fred boutique, Madisonbelle.
