Is the Nikon Prostaff P3 8x42 good for birding?

Yes. The 8x magnification gives a steady view, and the 377 ft field of view makes it easier to find and follow birds. The 42 mm lenses also help at dawn and dusk.

Can I use it with glasses?

The listed eye relief is 1 mm, which is very short and would make glasses use difficult. Check the actual eye relief on the unit or with the seller before buying if you wear glasses.

How does it compare with the Prostaff P3 10x42?

The 10x42 gives more magnification but a narrower field of view and a smaller exit pupil, so it is dimmer in low light and harder to hold steady. The 8x42 is the easier all-around choice.

What comes in the box?

The listing includes a carry case for the binoculars. Check the full box contents with the seller for straps, lens caps and cleaning cloth.

Is 1.27 lb too heavy to carry?

It is average for a 42 mm roof-prism binocular. It is fine on a strap for a few hours, but long hikes may favor a lighter 8x32 model.

Our take on the Nikon Prostaff P3 8x42

The Nikon Prostaff P3 8x42 is a roof-prism binocular built for birding, hunting and general outdoor use. Its 8x magnification and 42 mm lenses give a 5 mm exit pupil, so the view stays bright in low light, and the 377 ft field of view at 1,000 yards helps you track moving subjects. Multicoated eco-friendly glass and a rubber-armored polycarbonate body round it out at 1.27 lb. No current price was provided, so check the latest store comparison before buying.
