Our take on the Nulas 15-Piece Kitchen Knife Set with Block

The Nulas 15-Piece Kitchen Knife Set is a budget block set with 13 stainless steel blades, polypropylene handles and an extended tang, plus a wooden-look block. It covers the basics — chef's, bread, santoku, utility, paring and steak knives plus kitchen shears — and the blades are listed as dishwasher safe. At $35.99 at Walmart as of November 6, 2026, it sits at the low end of its recent range, so this is close to the cheapest it has been.

Pros
  • Full 15-piece lineup covers most everyday cutting tasks
  • Extended tang gives more heft than typical cheap stamped knives
  • Dishwasher safe, unlike most wood-handled sets
  • Block keeps the set organized on the counter
  • $35.99 at Walmart as of November 6, 2026 is at the low end of its range
Cons
  • Stainless steel is basic grade; edges dull faster than better steel
  • Polypropylene handles feel light and plasticky
  • Dishwasher cycles wear edges and handles over time
  • Block is likely composite, not solid wood
  • Steak knives and shears pad the count more than the core knives

Questions and answers

Is this set worth it for a first kitchen?
Yes, if you want a complete block cheaply. At $35.99 at Walmart as of November 6, 2026, it costs less than one good chef's knife, but expect to sharpen it more often.
Are the knives dishwasher safe?
The listing says yes. Hand washing still keeps edges sharper longer, since dishwasher heat and detergent wear steel and handles.
What knives are included?
13 blades including chef's, bread, santoku, utility, paring and steak knives, plus kitchen shears and the block.
How does it compare with a Henkel or Wüsthof set?
Those use harder German steel and riveted handles and cost many times more. This set wins on price and completeness, not edge retention.
When is it cheapest?
It has been near $36 at Walmart as of November 6, 2026, the low end of its recent range. Watch for holiday sales for small drops.
