Is this rug really safe outdoors?

Yes. The polypropylene face is UV-resistant and mold and mildew resistant, so it handles sun and damp. Put it on a covered porch or patio and avoid spots where water pools.

Does it need a rug pad?

Not necessarily. It has a slip-resistant backing, which is enough on most hard floors. A pad still adds cushioning and helps drainage if you use it on a deck.

Vacuum regularly on a low setting, and hose it off with mild soap for deeper cleaning. Let it dry flat and fully before putting it back.

The tight power-loomed polypropylene is tough against claws and accidents. The raised high-low pattern can still snag on eager scratching, so trim claws if your cat digs in.

It is a runner at 2'6" wide by 8' long, about 0.50 inch thick. That fits hallways, galley kitchens and narrow patios rather than full rooms.

When is the best time to buy?

Outdoor rugs usually drop in late summer and around major holiday sales. Check the price history before buying to see whether the current price is near its low.
