Is the Olympus 8mm fisheye worth it?

If you shoot Micro Four Thirds and want a sealed, fast fisheye, it is the strongest option in the system. At $1,099.99 at Amazon as of November 7, 2026, it is a specialty purchase rather than an everyday lens.

Does it autofocus on OM System and Panasonic bodies?

Yes, it is a Micro Four Thirds lens with autofocus, and the manual focus clutch lets you snap to manual focus. It works on both Olympus/OM System and Panasonic MFT cameras.

How wide is the field of view?

It gives a 180-degree diagonal fisheye view on Micro Four Thirds. The distortion is intentional and cannot be switched off.

Is it good for astrophotography?

Yes. The f/1.8 aperture and 8mm focal length let you shoot the Milky Way handheld or on a small tripod. Corners are softer wide open, so stop down slightly if you can.

Is it weather-sealed?

Yes, it is part of the PRO line with dust and splash resistance. Pair it with a sealed Olympus or OM System body to get the full benefit.

It is a niche lens that rarely gets deep discounts. The current $1,099.99 at Amazon as of November 7, 2026 is near the top of its recent range, so waiting for a sale or a used copy can save money.
