Each batt covers about 77.5 sq ft, and the R-19 rating suits 2x6 exterior walls, floors over crawl spaces and attic floors. Questions and answers

Is R-19 enough for my walls?
R-19 fits a 2x6 wall cavity and meets common code for above-grade exterior walls in many climate zones. Colder zones often call for R-20 or R-21, so check your local code before buying.
Which way should the kraft facing point?
The facing goes toward the warm, conditioned side of the wall or floor. In cold climates that means the inside of the house; in hot, humid climates the facing typically goes toward the exterior.
How many batts do I need?
Each batt covers about 77.5 sq ft at 15 in. wide and 93 in. long. Measure your wall or floor area and divide by 77.5, then round up for cuts and waste.
Can I use this in a ceiling or attic?
Yes, it works between attic floor joists and in ceilings. In an attic, leave the space above the insulation open for ventilation and do not cover the facing with a tight barrier.
Does it come with a vapor barrier?
The kraft facing is the vapor retarder, so no separate poly sheet is needed on that side. Seal the seams and staple the flanges to the framing for a continuous barrier.
Is it safe around pets and kids?
Once installed and covered, fiberglass is not a concern. During installation, keep people and pets out of the area and wear gloves, eye protection and a dust mask.
