Is the OXO pepper grinder worth it at $22.95?

At $22.95 at Amazon as of November 4, 2026, it is a fair price for a ceramic-burr mill. Cheaper mills often use nylon or steel burrs that wear or rust; this one should last longer.

Can it grind salt as well as pepper?

Yes. The ceramic mechanism is non-corrosive, so it handles coarse salt and whole spices like cumin and coriander. Rinse or wipe between switching fillings so flavors don't mix.

How fine can it grind?

The slide tab has five settings, from a fine dust for sauces to a coarse crack for steak. Fine settings take more turns per pinch.

Does it come with peppercorns?

Yes, it ships with black peppercorns already in the hopper. You refill through the top once empty.

Can I put it in the dishwasher?

No. No parts are dishwasher safe. Wipe the body with a damp cloth and brush out the burr by hand.

When is the best time to buy it?

It is a low-volume item, so discounts are small. The current $22.95 at Amazon is near the bottom of its recent range; waiting rarely saves much more.
