Our take on the PABIMIA 20 ft. W Metal Carport

The PABIMIA 20 ft. W Metal Carport is a 19.8 ft long, 12 ft wide open-sided shelter with an all-steel frame and a PE 160g tarp cover, sized to park up to four vehicles. It stands 72.8 inches at the door opening and is rated for 16 psf snow load, so it suits light-snow climates better than heavy ones. The cover is a zippered PE tarp rather than steel roofing, despite the "Metal Carport" name. It is a staked-down, semi-permanent structure, not a portable canopy.

Best forParking two to four cars, trucks or trailers on a driveway or lotSheltering equipment, boats or firewood from sun and rainBuyers in mild-winter areas with light snowShoppers who want a steel frame without a full building permit project
Pros
  • All-metal frame with ground stakes and expansion screws for anchoring
  • Large 12 ft by 19.8 ft footprint fits up to four vehicles
  • 16 psf snow load rating and a sloped roof to shed precipitation
  • Soft-edged rubber strip around the roof reduces tarp wear
  • Zippered PE 160g cover can be opened for drive-through access
  • Assembly kit included; roughly 5 to 6 hours to build
Cons
  • Open walls give no wind or side protection
  • PE tarp cover is less durable than steel or polycarbonate panels
  • 16 psf rating is low for heavy-snow regions
  • Not portable once staked and screwed down
  • No lock beyond the zipper; not a secure enclosure

Questions and answers

Is the PABIMIA carport strong enough for snow?
It is rated for 16 psf snow load, which covers light snowfall. In areas that see heavy or wet snow, clear the roof during storms or choose a sturdier structure.
Does it really fit four cars?
The footprint is about 12 ft by 19.8 ft, so four cars only fit if parked tightly, such as two rows of two small vehicles. Two full-size trucks or SUVs fit more comfortably.
Is the cover metal or fabric?
The frame and roof structure are steel, but the covering is a PE 160g tarp with a zipper closure. Expect fabric-level durability, not steel panel durability.
Can I move it after assembly?
Not easily. It anchors with ground stakes and expansion screws, and it is listed as non-portable. Plan its location before assembly.
How long does assembly take?
The kit is designed for about 5 to 6 hours of assembly, and two people are recommended for the frame and cover.
When is the price lowest?
Carports like this typically drop in late fall and winter clearance sales. Check the price history on this page before buying.
