Is the Peugeot Elis Sense set worth it over a manual mill?

If you want one-handed grinding and a matching pair on the table, yes. A manual Peugeot mill grinds just as well for far less, so the premium buys convenience and the light, not better grind quality.

What batteries does it take, and how long do they last?

Each mill runs on batteries in the base of the body; check the battery type printed in the compartment before buying. Life depends on use, and owners report changing them more often than expected with daily cooking.

Can I use it for both salt and pepper?

Yes, the set is sold as one salt mill and one pepper mill, and the box includes black pepper and dry salt crystals to start. Keep each mill to its intended spice, since salt residue in a pepper mill can corrode the mechanism.

How fine can it grind?

There are six settings, adjusted at the base of the grinding mechanism. Turn toward the fine end for table seasoning and toward coarse for steak or salad finishing.

Is it dishwasher safe?

No. Wipe the stainless body with a damp cloth and keep the mills out of water, since the motor and mechanism are not sealed for washing.
