Is this a complete shower filter or just the cartridge?

Just the cartridge. It is the replacement for Philips shower filter housings and does not include a shower head.

How often should I replace it?

Philips says every 4 to 6 months, depending on tap water quality. The 50,000 L rating works out to roughly that at normal shower use.

Will it fit my shower head?

It is made for most fixed, handheld and rainfall shower heads, and Philips says no tools or plumber are needed. Check that your housing takes the AWP175 cartridge.

Does it lower water pressure?

Philips says no. It is rated at 8 L/min (2.1 GPM), which is a normal shower flow.

Does it soften hard water?

It reduces chlorine and sediment and is listed as a water softener, but it is not a salt-based softener and does not remove calcium and magnesium the way a whole-house system does.
