Is the Polk Signature Elite worth it at $249?

At $249 at eBay as of November 4, 2026, it is a fair price for a 6.5-inch two-way bookshelf with PowerPort bass. Compare against the 9 stores listing it new before buying, since a pair doubles the cost.

Do I need an amplifier?

Yes. It is a passive wired speaker rated 20 to 125 watts per channel and works with 4 or 8 ohm outputs, so it needs a stereo amp or AV receiver. There is no built-in amp, Bluetooth or Wi-Fi.

How does it compare with the older Polk Signature series?

The Elite line keeps the PowerPort design and five-way binding posts but updates the drivers and tweeter for wider high-frequency response. Buy the Elite if the price gap is small; the older series is fine on a tight budget.

Is one speaker or a pair in the box?

One speaker per box. For stereo music or a front pair you need to buy two.

Can I use it outdoors?

It is not waterproof, so it is best kept indoors or under full cover. Moisture will damage the MDF cabinet and drivers.

Bookshelf speakers in this class tend to drop during holiday sales and when a new line launches. Watch the price history and buy when it falls below the recent range.
