What is the upholstery?

It is a polyester performance micro boucle with a firmer feel. Pottery Barn rates the piece Contract Grade, so the fabric and build are aimed at heavy use.

Are the cushions removable?

The seat cushions are loose and removable. The back is a tight back, so it is fixed.
