Is the Purple Premium Smart Base worth it over a basic adjustable base?

You pay for the presets, app control and adjustable legs. If you mainly want a flat-to-head raise, a cheaper base does that. The presets and split control are the reasons to step up.

Do I need two mattresses for the Split King?

Yes. The Split King is two Twin XL bases, so it takes two Twin XL mattresses. That is what lets each side move on its own.

Will it fit inside my existing bed frame?

Purple says the adjustable legs are compatible with most bed frames. Measure your frame's interior and rail height before buying, since the base is 14.5 inches tall before leg adjustment.

You get the base or bases, the legs, a wireless remote and app setup instructions. Mattresses and headboards are sold separately.

Adjustable bases tend to drop during holiday sales and mattress bundle promotions. The best new price was $1,395 at Wayfair as of November 4, 2026; compare that against bundle pricing before buying.

Our take on the Purple Premium Smart Base (Split King)

The Purple Premium Smart Base is an adjustable bed frame with head and foot elevation, controlled by a wireless remote or the Purple smart app. It includes zero gravity, anti-snore and lounge presets, and its adjustable legs let it fit inside most existing bed frames. The Split King version is two Twin XL bases (each 80" x 38") so each sleeper can raise their side independently. The best new price is $1,395 at Wayfair as of November 4, 2026, and two stores list it new.
