Our take on the Red Barrel Studio Wood Daybed with Trundle

A solid pine daybed with a pull-out trundle, sold as frame only, so mattresses are extra. It works as a sofa by day and two sleeping spots by night, which suits guest rooms and small bedrooms. The twin and full/double sizes cover both a single sleeper and a couple. It holds 4.3 out of 5 from 122 ratings, a solid but not standout score.

Questions and answers

Is the Red Barrel Studio daybed worth it?
It is a reasonable buy if you need two sleeping spots in one footprint and already own mattresses. The 4.3 out of 5 rating from 122 buyers suggests most are satisfied, but budget for mattresses and assembly time.
What mattresses fit the trundle?
The trundle takes a standard twin mattress, and a thin one, around 6 to 8 inches, fits best so it slides in and out cleanly. The main bed takes a twin or full/double mattress depending on the size you buy.
Does it come with mattresses or a box spring?
No. It is frame only, and slats are included, so you do not need a box spring. You supply both mattresses.
How hard is assembly?
Expect a few hours with two people. Owners commonly mention the assembly as the main downside, so set aside an afternoon and use the included hardware carefully.
Is pine strong enough for adults?
Pine is a soft wood, so it dents more easily than hardwood, but a properly assembled frame with slats handles adult weight. The trundle sits low, so it suits kids and shorter stays better than nightly adult use.
When is the best time to buy?
Furniture prices tend to dip around major holiday sales and at the start of the year. Check the price history on this page before buying so you know whether the current price is near its low.
What do buyers say about the Red Barrel Studio Wood Daybed with Trundle?
Rated 4.3 out of 5 from 122 ratings.
