Our take on the Retevis RT27 Walkie Talkies for Adults Rechargeable Long Range 2 Way Radio

The Retevis RT27 is a two-pack-style FRS two-way radio for adults, with 22 channels, a rechargeable battery and a black handheld body. It is built for short-range everyday talk: family outings, job sites, warehouses and camping. The best new price is $199.99 at Newegg as of November 7, 2026, and only one store lists it new, so there is no recent price range to compare against.

Best forFamilies and groups staying in touch outdoorsSmall job sites and warehouse crewsCamping and hiking tripsBuyers who want rechargeable radios instead of disposable batteries
Pros
  • 22 channels cover the standard FRS channel set
  • Rechargeable battery avoids buying AA cells
  • Simple handheld design with a belt clip for hands-free carry
  • Works out of the box with other FRS radios on the same channel
Cons
  • Only one store lists it new, so price competition is thin
  • No privacy codes or weather channels listed in the specs
  • Long-range claims are optimistic for a low-power FRS handheld
  • Charging is per-radio, so a group needs several cables or a multi-bay dock

Questions and answers

Is the Retevis RT27 good for beginners?
Yes. It has 22 channels and a simple handheld layout, so you set a channel and talk. It suits casual family or job-site use more than serious long-range work.
What is the range of the RT27?
Retevis markets it as long range, but as an FRS handheld expect roughly a mile or less in buildings and a few miles at best in open country. Hills, walls and trees cut that down.
Does it come with a charging dock?
The listing does not spell out the box contents. Confirm with the seller whether you get a charging cable, a dock or both before buying for a group.
Is $199.99 a good price for the RT27?
Only Newegg lists it new at $199.99 as of November 7, 2026, so there is no lower store price to compare. Check the pack count, since that price is high for a single FRS radio.
Can the RT27 talk to other walkie talkies?
It uses standard FRS channels, so it can talk to other FRS radios set to the same channel. It will not reach GMRS-only or business-band radios.
How many radios are in the box?
The listing title does not state a pack count. Confirm whether the $199.99 price is for one radio or a pair before ordering.
Where is the Retevis RT27 Walkie Talkies for Adults Rechargeable Long Range 2 Way Radio cheapest?
At Newegg, for $199.99, as of our latest check.
