Our take on the Richell PAW TRAX Top Entry Cat Litter Box

The Richell PAW TRAX is a top-entry, enclosed litter box with a hinged filter lid and an attachable scoop. Cats jump in through the top, which keeps litter scatter and spray inside, and the one-hand lid makes scooping quick. It suits cats up to 13.2 lbs and holds about 5 L of litter. At $39.99 at Tractor Supply Company as of November 5, 2026, it sits at the low end of its recent range, with 6 stores listing it new.

Questions and answers

Is the PAW TRAX worth it for a cat that kicks litter everywhere?
Yes, if your cat is under 13.2 lbs and willing to jump in. The enclosed top entry catches most kicked litter and spray, which is the box's main job.
Will a large cat fit?
No. Richell rates it for cats up to 13.2 lbs, and the 15 x 20.1 x 15.7 inch footprint is tight for big breeds. A large cat will be cramped and may avoid it.
Can a kitten or senior cat use a top-entry box?
Often not at first. Kittens and older or arthritic cats may struggle with the jump. Add a step or ramp, or choose a low-entry box for those cats.
How much litter does it hold and how often do I change it?
About 5 L, which is less than many large covered boxes. Expect to scoop daily and do a full change more often than with a bigger box.
What comes in the box?
The litter box with its filter lid and an attachable scoop. Litter and replacement filters are not included.
When is it cheapest?
At $39.99 at Tractor Supply Company as of November 5, 2026, it is at the low end of its recent range across 6 stores. Watch for price drops around pet-supply sales.
