Our take on the Rogue Rocketeer RR50 7/8 Scale Electric Guitar

The Rogue Rocketeer RR50 is a 7/8-scale solidbody electric guitar built for smaller hands and shorter reaches. It has a basswood body and maple neck, a single humbucking pickup, and a string-through bridge. At $89.99 at Target as of November 4, 2026, it sits at the low end of its recent range, so this is a fair time to buy.

Questions and answers

Is the RR50 good for a beginner?
Yes, if the player is a child or has small hands. The 7/8 scale and light basswood body make it easy to hold, and one humbucker keeps things simple. Budget for a setup by a tech.
How does 7/8 scale compare to a full-size guitar?
It is smaller than a standard 25.5-inch scale guitar, so frets sit closer together and the neck feels shorter. That suits kids and smaller adults but feels cramped to players used to full size.
What comes in the box?
Expect the guitar only. Rogue does not include a gig bag, strap, cable or amp with the RR50, so plan on buying those separately.
Can I change the pickup?
Yes. The single humbucker route can take a standard-size humbucker, so a swap is a common first upgrade. Check the cavity depth before buying a replacement.
When is the RR50 cheapest?
It is $89.99 at Target as of November 4, 2026, near the bottom of its recent range. Starter guitars like this usually drop further around Black Friday and back-to-school sales.
Where is the Rogue Rocketeer RR50 7/8 Scale Electric Guitar cheapest?
