Our take on the ESP LTD EC-01FT Electric Guitar

The ESP LTD EC-01FT is a single-cutaway solidbody electric built for heavy rock and metal. It pairs a mahogany body and neck with a Macassar ebony board and stainless steel frets, a spec set usually found on much pricier guitars. A single humbucker keeps the layout simple and the signal hot. At $749.99 at Diablo Guitars as of November 4, 2026, it sits at the top of its recent range, so it is not a discount moment.

Best forMetal and hard rock playersGuitarists who want one hot bridge humbuckerPlayers who prefer stainless steel fretsBuyers wanting a set-neck single-cut under $800
Pros
  • Stainless steel frets resist wear and feel smooth
  • Mahogany body and neck give a warm, thick tone
  • 24.75-inch scale plays loose and bends easily
  • Single bridge humbucker is simple and noise-free
  • White binding and ebony board look upscale
Cons
  • One pickup limits clean and split-coil versatility
  • No neck pickup for warmer lead tones
  • Mahogany body is fairly heavy
  • Price is at the high end of its recent range
  • Molded nut is a budget part on an otherwise premium spec

Questions and answers

Is the ESP LTD EC-01FT worth $749.99?
It is a fair price for stainless frets, an ebony board and a mahogany set-neck body. That said, $749.99 at Diablo Guitars as of November 4, 2026 is the top of its recent range, so waiting for a dip could save money.
Does it have a neck pickup?
No. It has a single bridge humbucker, so you get one hot rhythm and lead tone. Players who need neck-pickup cleans should look at the EC-1000 or another two-pickup model.
What is the scale length and nut width?
It has a 24.75-inch scale and a 43 mm nut. That is the classic Gibson-style feel: easy bends and a familiar fretboard width.
Are the frets really stainless steel?
Yes, the EC-01FT uses stainless steel frets. They last far longer than nickel and stay smooth, which matters if you play a lot.
What colors does it come in?
It is offered in Black and Vintage Burst. Both use the same mahogany body and chrome hardware.
When is the best time to buy it?
Watch for holiday and back-to-school sales, when LTD models often drop below list. Right now $749.99 is the best new price across three stores.
Where is the ESP LTD EC-01FT Electric Guitar cheapest?
At Diablo Guitars, for $749.99, as of our latest check.
Where can I buy the ESP LTD EC-01FT Electric Guitar?
7 stores we checked sell it, including Diablo Guitars, Sweetwater, FlexShopper, eBay, Alto Music.
