Our take on the Roll-Away Shikibuton Mattress with Elastic Straps

The Roll-Away Shikibuton is a Japanese-style floor mattress made from densely packed natural cotton over an eco foam core, with elastic straps so it rolls up and stores away. It is firm, CertiPUR-US certified, and sized in Twin XL (80 in) and Queen (60 in wide). It is built for temporary sleep, not as a permanent bed. It is rated 4.9 out of 5 from 9 ratings, a small sample that points to satisfied buyers but is not a broad track record.

Questions and answers

Is this mattress good for everyday sleeping?
It is designed as a temporary sleep solution for guests, dorms and travel. For nightly use, expect the cotton to compress and consider rotating it regularly.
How firm is it?
It is listed as firm, with densely packed natural cotton over eco foam. Side sleepers may find it too hard on a bare floor.
Does it come with a foundation or tatami mat?
No. The foundation is not included, so you need a floor, tatami mat or cot to put it on.
What sizes are available?
It comes in Twin XL at 80 in long and Queen at 60 in wide. Check the width you need before ordering.
How do I store it?
Roll it up and secure it with the elastic straps. Air it out periodically to keep the cotton fresh.
When is the price lowest?
Floor mattresses like this often drop during back-to-school and holiday sales. Compare the current price against its recent range before buying.
What do buyers say about the Roll-Away Shikibuton Mattress with Elastic Straps?
Rated 4.9 out of 5 from 9 ratings.
